This notice explains how Latvia Weather handles personal data on the website and companion iOS app.
1. Controller and contact
The controller is Kristaps Grinbergs, Latvia. You can contact the controller through kristaps.me. If you are in the EEA, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
2. Data we handle
We process the forecast location you choose and technical request information such as IP address and device/browser data needed to deliver and secure the service. If you choose device location, it is used to find a nearby forecast location; it is not stored by the service. Messages sent to the weather assistant are processed to answer your request. We do not require accounts.
3. Why we use data
We use this information to provide forecast features, prevent abuse, maintain security and respond to requests. These processing activities are necessary for the service and our legitimate interests in operating it securely. Where we use optional analytics, the legal basis is your consent; you can withdraw it at any time below.
4. Essential cookies and local storage
Essential cookies store your selected location (up to 1 year), wind-unit preference (up to 1 year), dismissed weather warnings (14 days), consent choice (180 days), and a pseudonymous chat rate-limit identifier (up to 1 year). Local storage may retain your colour theme and weather-assistant chat history on your device. These are used only for requested functionality, security or remembering choices.
5. Optional analytics
Only when you opt in, we load Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to measure aggregated use and performance. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can change or withdraw this choice at any time using Cookie settings below; disabling analytics does not affect core weather features.
6. Retention and sharing
Cookies remain for the periods stated above unless you delete them sooner. Local data remains on your device until you clear it. Service providers process data only to operate the service, including hosting, analytics when enabled, weather data and the optional AI assistant. We do not sell personal data.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, or portability of personal data, and withdraw consent at any time. Contact us through kristaps.me. You may also delete cookies and local storage in your browser or device settings.
8. Changes to this notice
We will publish updates here and change the “Last updated” date. If our data practices change materially, we will request consent again where required.
